Purwien & Kowa (CH/GER)

German synth-pop duo Purwien & Kowa are back... Whether the world is ready or not.

After a five-year hiatus from releasing music, Christian Purwien (founding member of legendary German electronic dark wave pioneers, Second Decay) and producer Thomas Kowa (formerly of No Comment) used their time to build one of Germany’s most beloved 80s music podcast, Disko 80. Now, the duo return with renewed energy, sharp wit, and a brand-new partnership with Town And Towers Records.

The comeback begins with the new single CONCORDE — the first release from the upcoming album SECHS. Driven by shimmering analog synths, infectious melodies, and the unmistakable tongue-in-cheek charm that defines Purwien & Kowa, CONCORDE is ready for takeoff to places most bands would never dare to go.

Based in Dortmund, Purwien & Kowa have built a unique universe where nostalgic 1980’s-inspired synthpop meets modern electronic production, humor, and self-aware storytelling. Fans of bands like Welle: Erdball, classic darkwave, and retro-futuristic pop will immediately feel at home.

Beyond their music, Purwien & Kowa have become cult figures through books, podcasts, and multimedia projects. Their acclaimed Disko 80 podcast has featured legendary guests including Joachim Witt, members of Alphaville, and Camouflage, with more than 100 episodes released to date. Thomas Kowa also works as an author and hosts the “Krimi Schweiz” podcast.

They are also known for their literary releases such as Pommes Porno PopstarVegas Vidi non Vici, and Tausche Ehe Minus gegen Freundschaft plus, as well as their additional music project Heldautomat.

Purwien & Kowa are back. Unexpectedly. Unapologetically. And sounding better than ever.
