Heldautomat (GER)

German electronic duo Heldautomat emerge from the shadows with a sound that is dark, deep, and emotionally raw.

Built on analogue synthesizers, haunting piano melodies, minimalist drum machines, and the unmistakable voice of Christian Purwien, Heldautomat create music that feels fragile, cinematic, and quietly devastating. It is electronic music with scars – intimate, melancholic, and beautifully human.

Behind the project are two artists who never chased the spotlight, yet have remained part of Germany’s alternative electronic underground since the 1980s: Christian Purwien, known as the voice of legendary darkwave pioneers Second Decay, and Thomas Kowa, producer, synthesizer architect, and acclaimed thriller author.

Together, Purwien and Kowa have already built a devoted following through five albums as Purwien & Kowa, and through their hugely successful German-language 80’s music podcast, Disko 80. But Heldautomat marks a new beginning – stripped down, more uncompromising, and emotionally darker.

Their first single ‘Am Ersten Tag’ deliberately refuses to follow modern streaming formulas. It is not designed for playlists, algorithms, or instant gratification – and that is exactly the point. Heldautomat stand against disposable listening culture, choosing atmosphere over trends and emotional depth over accessibility.

This is music for the night hours. For empty streets, fading neon lights, and thoughts that refuse to disappear.

Heldautomat are not here to entertain the moment. They are here to leave a mark.
