Out today, a new release from ETH (Egil Thomas Hansen) – ‘Somewhere But Here’… It’s ETH‘s first solo album. Originally released on CD back in 2020 – now out on streaming services and bandcamp. Play it loud, and put in on repeat!
In 2020, ETH released his first album “Somewhere But Here”, a few singles and an EP has followed since then – and now, as the calendar shows 2024, new ETH material is as good as finished.
The most recent release from ETH was the 3 track single “Cover Me”. A single featuring 3 cover songs of the classic Depeche Mode songs: Puppets and Behind The Wheel in future pop versions, and an emotional piano version of The Sun And The Rainfall.
ETH aka Egil Thomas Hansen, originally a guitarist and progressive rock frontman and vocalist with a (not so) hidden passion for synth pop! Or was it the other way around? The synth pop loving producer, keyboard player and vocalist with a passion for epic Progbands? No-one really knows, not even ETH himself – but in one way or another, he turned out to be an artist in the electronic music scene, founder of the Norwegian futurepop band, SUPERCRAFT – and the rest is history.
Starting his career in the Amiga demoscene and the Protracker, the path was laid for a natural continuation with sequencers and synthesizers. Heavily influenced by bands like VNV Nation, New Order, Depeche Mode and The Art Of Noise, the idea of creating a synth pop band was born. Thomas once said: “I spread my wings, but I don’t know how to land”.
After almost two decades in the progressive rock scene, in bands like Texaco Stovner, Suspicious Minds and Fjelltaake, Thomas was one of two founders of the succesful Norwegian future pop band Supercraft, back in 2007. It was time for a change for sure. The Marshall amps and Boss pedals was gently stored safe and sound, and the Roland JX-8P and Korg Polysix was re-programmed from howling sync leads to biting sawtooth sounds, and with the guitars still present on some tracks. From 2009 to present, Supercraft have released 3 albums, EPs and dozens of singles.
