Ultranoire consists of Josef Stapel (lead vocals, songwriting, composition) and Szilárd Kun (keyboards). Their collaboration began in 2011, gradually evolving into a project combining emotional depth with refined electronic arrangements.
Ultranoire define their sound as electro-noire—a blend of dark, melodic synthpop and shadowy synthwave—while remaining open to diverse musical influences and textures. The duo carefully integrate different sounds and samples into their music, maintaining the band’s characteristic moody and atmospheric identity.
Ultranoire’s debut EP, Monochrome (2014), introduced their approach to dark electronic music. It was followed by the Individual EP (2015), which expanded their style and helped build a live repertoire. Both releases received international attention, gaining airplay on alternative and digital radio stations.
A mini-tour took the band across Hungary, Austria, and Germany.
On December 18, 2015, Ultranoire released their first full-length album, Disclosure, through ScentAir Records, combining tracks from their EPs with previously unreleased material and an instrumental interlude. The album reached 9th on Poponaut’s sales chart and 7th on the German Electronic WebCharts (GEWC), and continued to be featured on alternative radio worldwide.
Their second album, Intronaut, was released in January 2017. Darker and more introspective than previous material, it reached 4th on Poponaut’s sales chart.
In December 2018, the band released the three-track EP Isolation, further reflecting their evolving sound.
The band and we are currently finalising their third album ‘Subtraum’, continuing their exploration of dark, melodic synthpop and synthwave. The first single form the new album, Circles, was released on October 10th 2025.
