CØLDSTAR is dark synths from the cold side of the future – and if you like bands like e.g. Final Selection you will love this band
From the shadows of Bern, Switzerland, CØLDSTAR create electronic music where dark synthpop, coldwave and retro-futurism collide.
Built around Martin Baumann and Michael Freund, CØLDSTAR craft a sound that feels both nostalgic and strangely futuristic. Icy analogue synthesizers, hypnotic electronic rhythms, haunting vocals and atmospheric soundscapes forming the soundtrack to a world somewhere between neon-lit cities and the infinite darkness of space.
Their fascination with science fiction and the mysteries of the universe runs deep. Stars disappear, planets drift through the darkness and machines become companions to human emotion. But beneath the cosmic imagery, CØLDSTAR’s songs are ultimately about very human experiences: loneliness, longing, memories, desire and the search for connection.
After emerging with their 2021 reinterpretation of Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt”, CØLDSTAR began building their own universe with the Coming Home EP in 2023.
Their debut album, CØSMIC DUST, followed in 2024 on Swiss Dark Nights, establishing their signature combination of dark electronic textures, melodic synthpop and cinematic atmosphere.
With subsequent releases including “Time Machine,” “Astronaut’s Lament,” “Last Dance” and the 2026 single “Post-Punk Robot,” CØLDSTAR continue to expand their sonic universe, balancing the cold precision of machines with the fragile imperfections of the human heart.
There is darkness in their music, but never emptiness.
CØLDSTAR is the sound of looking back while moving forward.
A transmission from a future that never happened.
Dark. Melodic. Electronic. Cosmic.
Welcome to the world of CØLDSTAR.
