Don’t know SoftWave? – Then let us introduce you to them …

SoftWave – A Danish synthpop duo with their own brand of
“throwback” electropop – catchy and dance worthy.

In 2020 a big dream came through. SoftWave was on a Scandinavian Tour as supporting act for no less than the iconic Orchestral Maneuvers In The Dark – or just “OMD” – as all us teenagers of the 80’s know them. You can read a lot more about the experience with OMD under the “SoftWave News” menu point on this homepage, or go to the sidemenu and see under Feburary, March, June and July.

It all began in 2014 when SoftWave was established by Jerry Olsen (synths and programming) and Catrine Christensen (lead singer and lyrics).
SoftWave released their debut-EP ‘Together Alone’ in 2016, and ‘Together Alone The Remixes’ in 2017. This, without any knowledge about the music industry and with huge ambitions of becoming a popular synth-pop duo in Denmark and abroad.

Alongside a lot of positive recommendations SoftWave was quickly recommended by Danish National Radio – DR (Karrierekanonen), reviewed by renowned Music Magazine GAFFA (DK), playlisted by New Nordic Indie, interviewed by famous The Electricity Club (UK), and received support from DMF (Danish Music Foundation) for their concerts in London (UK, 2018) and W-Festival (Belgium, 2018).
Today SoftWave’s music rotates permanently on several radio stations and playlists internationally (UK, IS, DE, CN, SE, BE and USA). SoftWave is also playlisted on Denmarks most popular radioshow, P4 Aften, on DR (Denmark’s National Radio).
With recommendations from ex members of The Human League, Gary Numan, Dead or Alive, Dramatis, Visage (Chris Payne, Ian Burden, Jo Callis) and in 2019 also mentioned in Erasure’s newsletter, the future of SoftWave is promising.

SoftWave received a lot of positive feedback after the release of the debut album ‘Game On’ in 2019. Not only has the album been recommended by synth-pop stars, but also charted by German Electronic Web Chart (GEWC) as no. 9 best album, rated 10/10 by NightrideFM (USA), reviewed by The Electricity Club (UK), Cold War Night Life (SE), and Side-Line Magazine (BE).

SoftWave have delivered a fine and enjoyable debut album with off-the-wall narratives contained within a classic melodic framework. So the natural reaction is to press “play” again. Striving for continual artistic improvement and displaying a willingness to learn as they progress, there is no doubt that based on this documentary evidence, SoftWave’s synthpop heart will go on…”

Recently the single ‘Something is Missing’ was charted as no. 11 best track by German Radio station GEWC, and the track is also licensed to the big renowned ZYX MUSIC (label, Germany) on their new CD compilation release “Italo Disco New Generation 15”.

‘Something is Missing’ is playlisted since may 2020 on Danish National Radio, DR.

“The Danish duo of SoftWave have crafted pure synthpop bliss on their newest LP, Game On… Not only does it work, I feel as if it stands head and shoulders with the likes of Erasure, OMD, and the Human League.”

James Mitchell, EchoSynthetic Nightride.FM, Georgia Atlanta, USA (May 1, 2019)
